Woman, 76, Punched In Random Midtown Subway Attack: NYPD

The attack happened on Sunday afternoon at the Lexington Avenue-51st Street subway station.

MIDTOWN, NY — A 76-year-old woman was punched in the head by a stranger at the Lexington Avenue-51st Street subway station on Sunday, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, the woman was standing on the southbound 6 train platform on Sunday at 2:35 p.m. when a man punched the woman in the head, causing her to fall to the ground.

Then, the man ran away from the scene in an unknown direction, and the woman was rushed to NewYork Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition, police said.

No arrests have been made yet, and the investigation is underway, police said.
