Man Hospitalized After Falling Down NYC High Rise Elevator Shaft: FDNY
The FDNY lifted the man out using ropes and a stretcher.

MIDTOWN, NY — A construction worker fell 15 feet to the bottom of an elevator shaft in Midtown on Thursday, New York City Fire Department officials said.
According to the FDNY, the man was working at the construction site for the high-rise at 32 West 48th St. around 4:24 p.m., right near Rockefeller Plaza, when he fell off a portable ladder and down into the elevator shaft he was working on.
"He fell to the bottom of the elevator shaft, where he was injured and incapacitated," Battalion Chief Joseph Castellano said on X (formerly Twitter). "We contacted the Rockefeller Center Alarm Team that was in the area due to the high volume of traffic."

"In no short order, we had the patient up the top side in the care of EMS, where they transported him to Bellevue Hospital to receive further care,” Castellano said.
