  1. New York State will give $7.7 million to expand the Pfc. Joseph Dwyer Veteran Peer-to-Peer Services Program statewide. The program for veterans struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury and other mental health challenges was named in honor of Dwyer, a former resident of Mount Sinai, who died from an overdose in 2008 after struggling with PTSD.   2. Suffolk police are looking for two women who stole $238 in a cash change scheme in Islandia at Stop & Shop on Veterans Memorial Highway on Feb. 18 around 8 p.m. The women handed an employee $100 and requested change. They then accused the employee of giving incorrect change multiple times. (News 12)
  3. Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney and two dozen people who lost loved ones gathered in Hauppauge on Sunday to remember and celebrate the lives of more than 600 people murdered in recent decades. The event marked the end of National Crime Victims Rights Week. (Subscription: Newsday)
