Councilwoman Announces Results Of E-Waste And Shredding Event
The event was held April 29 at the Rose Caracappa Senior Center in Mount Sinai.

On April 29, Councilwoman Jane Bonner held an E-Waste Collection, Paper Shredding and Drug Take Back event at the Rose Caracappa Senior Center in Mount Sinai. The event, which was Councilwoman Bonner’s first of the year, provided resident with the opportunity to dispose of unused electronic devices, have old paper documents securely shredded, and to safely discard unused prescription drugs. Officers from the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department were on-hand to accept the prescription drugs. During the event, 532 cars stopped by to recycle 17,400 lbs. of paper, 7,200 lbs. of e-waste and 14 boxes of unwanted prescription drugs for proper disposal. All the Town of Brookhaven’s 2022 recycling events are co-sponsored by DIME Community Bank.

Councilwoman Bonner said, “My first recycling event of the year was a big success with a record number of cars despite the rain. A special ‘thank you’ to all the residents who stopped by and to the Town’s Department of Recycling and Sustainable Materials Management and the Sheriff’s Department for helping to make this event a big success.” Councilwoman Bonner’s next recycling event will be held on September 30 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Rose Caracappa Center, 739 Route 25A in Mt.
