Two students from the Rocky Point School District represented the district’s music program when they attended the Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association 15th annual Day of Horn recently held at Northport High School.

Jeremy Moriarty, a fifth grade student at Joseph A. Edgar Intermediate School, and Valerie Dorr, a seventh grade student at Rocky Point Middle School, were accompanied by Rocky Point band director Vincent Ragona. They had the opportunity to work alongside guest artist Dr. Heidi Lucas, a renowned musician and educator, active advocate for new music and associate professor of horn at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she works with applied horn students.

“This was an exceptional experience for these two students and opportunities like this help to continue motivating them in their musical skills,” Ragona said.
