RIDGE, NY – A family friend of 24-year-old Anthony Spero, who drowned in a backyard pool at his Long Island home over the weekend, has started a GoFundMe fundraiser for Spero's family.

"I know this family for a very long time and they would never ask for any kind of help in paying for anything let alone their son's burial," Anthony Maltese wrote on the fundraising page.

"Anthony was a sweet, loving boy with autism and would always greet you with a hug and a big smile. He brought so much laughter and love to his family."
