A man driving a Mercury Grand Marquis slammed into a disabled flatbed truck between exits 51 and 52 and died and a female passenger was transported to the hospital. (News 12)
- Three Good Samaritans helped rescue a woman trapped in a burning car on the LIE in Islandia on Sunday evening. Becky Boeckmann lost control of her vehicle and struck a tree. Two off-duty members of the Central Islip Fire Department helped: Eric Leonard pulled her from the vehicle while Kenneth Degan extinguished the fire. Robyn Frank, who works as a lifeguard, provided medical aid to Boeckmann. (smithtownmatters.com)
- Greater Long Island tells us that The Boulevard in Yaphank has gotten town approval to add more residential units. 152 units can now be added to the site, north of the LIE and off William Floyd Parkway. (Greater Long Island)
