Man Drowns in Backyard Pool on Long Island

The 24-year-old man was found unresponsive in an above ground pool at his home Saturday evening.

RIDGE, NY – Suffolk Police are investigating the drowning death of a man in Ridge Saturday evening.

Seventh Precinct officers responded to 6 Giant Oak Road at about 5:55 p.m. after a family member called 911 to report finding 24-year-old Anthony Spero unresponsive in the above ground pool. A family member pulled Spero from the water and began CPR until police and Ridge Rescue arrived.

Spero, who lives at the home, was transported by ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
