1. New York state ordered enhanced shark patrols at Long Island State Park beaches this week. Several recent encounters saw lifeguards, surfers and swimmers bitten at Smith Point and Fire Island. (NBC New York)
2. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Riverhead Town police asked the public to help identify two men who allegedly stole $3,5000 worth of clothes from Riverhead Tanger Outlets. They took the items from Tommy Hilfiger on June 20 and left in a gray Chevrolet SUV with Pennsylvania license plates. (Riverhead News Review)
3. A teenager was found with a gun after a burglar alarm alerted authorities in Riverhead. On July 17, police responded to the alarm at Old Country Road near Osprey Avenue and charged him with criminal possession. (Daily Voice)
