- Three shark sightings at Jones Beach Saturday closed the beach to swimming. Two fisherman caught and released sharks at Field 6. Then at 10:45 a.m., a lifeguard spotted a shark at the west end of Jones Beach Field 2. Swimming was allowed again at noon. (News 12)
- Riverhead Town Board has hired consultants to analyze possible development projects located downtown by the town's riverfront area. They will also study parking needs and parking garage proposals. (RiverheadLOCAL)
- A bust of Long Island singer Harry Chapin was sculpted by an artist and former neighbor. Susan Bahary grew up in Huntington Bay in the 1970s, and Chapin was her neighbor. (Patch)
