Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Suffolk Crash

A 23-year-old man was airlifted to the hospital after being cut off by an SUV Sunday afternoon.

MILLER PLACE, NY – A 23-year-old man was seriously injured when a motorcycle collided with an SUV in Suffolk County Sunday afternoon.

Brandon Rothgeb, of Nesconset, was riding a 2011 Suzuki motorcycle west on Route 25A when the driver of a 2011 Toyota SUV that was heading eastbound on 25A attempted to make a left turn onto Hunter Avenue around 2:10 p.m., Suffolk police said. There is no traffic signal at the intersection.

The motorcycle struck the rear of the SUV. Rothgeb was transported via Suffolk County police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the SUV, 48-year-old Sonia Trigueros, of Lindenhurst, was not injured. No criminal charges have been filed.
