1. On Wednesday, Davis Park Beach on Fire Island was closed to for swimming after a shark was seen swimming close to shore. No one was injured, and one beachgoer took video footage of the shark 20 feet offshore. (Subscription: Newsday)
2. A motorcyclist from Patchogue was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Ronkonkoma on Wednesday morning. John Hannon, 25, was riding a 2015 Honda motorcycle westbound on Veterans Memorial Highway when he struck a truck making a left. (Patch)
3. A woman is suing Suffolk County police for $60 million after an alleged assault at a Dix Hills graduation party. Cindy O'Pharrow's suit says she was assaulted in June 2021 because she is African American. (News 12)
