Here are the top three stories today in Miller Place-Rocky Point:

  1. A 16-year-old boy was arrested after he made threats on social media about committing a mass shooting at Bellport High School, police said. The teen's identity was withheld because he is a minor. Polie said the teen made the threat on his Instagram story on Thursday, which was reported by multiple people. (Patch)
  2. A lawsuit between an East Quogue Elementary School teacher and Southampton Town and the school after she said police threw her to the floor and handcuffed her during a 2016 lockdown drill was settled this week. The town board voted 5-0 at its meeting Tuesday to approve the settlement. Christine Capozzola, 51, of Westhampton, was participating in a drill and claimed she was violently thrown during the exercise. (Subscription: Newsday)
  3. Police are asking for the public’s help to find a man who stole from a Patchogue Lowe's on Nov. 28, 2021. He stole power tools from the Montauk Highway store, at approximately 9:15 a.m. (News 12)
