Suspect's Sketch Released In Attempted Kidnapping Of 2 Girls
One of the 8-year-old girls was grabbed by one of the men, thrown to the ground and punched in the face, police say.

Authorities on Thursday released a sketch of one of the two men who tried to kidnap two 8-year-old girls on Tuesday afternoon in Mineola.
According to authorities, the girls were playing in a gated yard of a Maple Place home when two men approached them at 4:40 p.m. When the girls tried to run away, the men began chasing them around the yard, police said.

One of the girls was grabbed by one of the men, thrown to the ground and punched in the face, police say. The girl began to scream and kick the man, causing both men to flee the scene. The other girl was able to run away from the men and were uninjured.

One man fled in a dark-colored vehicle while the other fled on foot in an unknown direction.
The girls told their parents what happened and authorities were notified.

Police described the men as having dark skin and beards, and wearing yellow pants and blue shirts.
The girl's mother, in a Facebook post, said her daughters described the men as about 40 years old, with long beards, tan/olive skin tone, and wearing dark blue shirts and yellow-ish pants. One man had a stud earring in his left ear.
