New North Hempstead Finance Director Position Proposed by Bosworth

Aline Khatchadourian chosen as North Hempstead's finance director at a cost of $132,000 annually to taxpayers.

Aline KhatchadourianΒ has been chosen to serve asΒ North HempsteadΒ finance director,Β a newly-created position proposedΒ by Supervisor-elect Judi Bosworth.

Khatchadourian, a certified public accountant,Β has servedΒ asΒ director of finance for the Nassau County Legislature'sΒ minority caucus for the past two years.

Expected to makeΒ $1,000 less than Bosworth next year,Β Khatchadourian'sΒ proposed salary will beΒ $132,000, according to a North Hempstead spokesman.

In her role,Β Khatchadourian will oversee the development and administration of the town budget, the capital plan, capital financing, internal and external auditing, performance metrics and strategic and multi-year financial plans, according to Bosworth.

β€œHer multi-faceted fiscal experience and depth of knowledge will help ensure the continued stability of town finances,” said Bosworth in a statement Monday.

KhatchadourianΒ previously served in a number of fiscal positions with Nassau County, including deputy budget director, acting deputy county treasurer and deputy comptroller for audit and special projects.Β 

Khatchadourian was elected to two terms as a member of the Board of Education of the Manhasset School District. She holds an M.S. in accounting from Pace University and graduated from Marist College with a B.A. in finance.

The Democrat-controlled town board approved this month significant pay increases for nearly all North Hempstead elected officials.

All ofΒ Bosworth's new staff appointmentsΒ will be fully taxpayer-funded by off-setting 2014 budgetΒ expenditure reductions which includeΒ staff reductions, retirements and restructuring,Β according to town officials.

Bosworth's newΒ appointeesΒ will be considered by the Democratic-controlledΒ town board at its Jan. 2Β meeting.Β 

Inauguration is set for Jan. 5 in North Hempstead.
