Company Donates $8K in Toy Gift Cards to Mineola Organizations

For the past seven holiday seasons, Melville-based MSC Industrial Supply Co. has made donations to two Mineola-based organizations to help children in the area who are battling illnesses have some fun.

In 2005 MSC implemented the Toys “R” Us Holiday Gift Card Program intending to give back to the communities in which it operates. Over the last 8 years, the company has provided close to 12,500 gift cards, valued at over $300,000 to children throughout the Long Island and New York region.

This year, the company has donated 2,000 Toys “R” Us gift cards, totaling $50,000 in value, to 14 hospitals and organizations throughout Long Island and New York, including the Family & Children’s Association and Winthrop's Cancer Center for Kids in Mineola. This is the third consecutive year that these two organizations have been beneficiaries of MSC’s Toys “R” Us Holiday Gift Card Program.

MSC began donating gift cards to the Family & Children’s Association in 2010 and Winthrop Cancer Center for Kids in 2006. Since 2006, MSC has donated 1,925 gift cards to these two Mineola organizations, totaling $48,125 in value. For the 2013 holiday season, MSC donated a total of 325 cards to both organizations, totaling $8,125.
