Fire Sweeps Through Nassau Restaurant: PHOTOS
Photos and video showed flames and smoke billowing into the air. The restaurant will remain closed indefinitely.

MINEOLA, NY —A fire swept through a Mineola restaurant Saturday afternoon, sending flames and heavy black smoke billowing into the air. Authorities were called around 3 p.m. Saturday for a report of smoke emanating from Churrasqueira Bairrada Restaurant on Jericho Turnpike, Nassau County police said.
Arriving officers evacuated the Portuguese eatery and found the inferno in the kitchen. Firefighters from Mineola, Williston Park, East Williston, Garden City Park, Westbury, Carle Place and New Hyde Park extinguished the blaze. No one was hurt, police said.
An investigation remains ongoing.

In a Facebook post Saturday, the restaurant said "everyone is well."
"Today a tragedy struck at Churrasqueira Bairrada Restaurant," the eatery wrote. "An electrical unit caught on fire. The restaurant would be [closed] until further notice."
