Girl Scouts of Nassau County Donates Cookies to NYU Langone

Girl Scouts of Nassau County recently donated around 3,000 boxes of their iconic cookies to the dedicated staff at NYU Langone Health in an act of appreciation for National Nurses Week. This act of generosity is part of the Girl Scouts' ongoing Hometown Heroes initiative, where Girl Scout Cookie customers can purchase cookies which will be donated to local community heroes as a ‘thank you’ for their invaluable services.

“Girl Scouts of Nassau County’s Hometown Heroes initiative is a way for our Girl Scouts to give back to the community members that make a difference in our lives and others’ daily,” said Rande Bynum, CEO of Girl Scouts of Nassau County. “Donating these Girl Scout Cookies to celebrate Nurses Week is the least we could do to support NYU Langone Health and all they do for the Garden City area.”

The cookies were warmly received by the nurses and staff at NYU Langone, providing a sweet token of gratitude to healthcare professionals who continue to go above and beyond in their daily duties. This year's donation carries added significance as it aligns with the retirement of Valerie Terzano, a long-serving member on the board of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County community, who has facilitated partnerships with local the hospital.

The Hometown Heroes initiative not only allows the Girl Scouts to give back but also provides young girls with the opportunity to learn about the importance of community service and the impact of kindness. Girl Scouts of Nassau County looks forward to continuing their support for local heroes and are planning further activities and donations throughout the year to keep this spirit of community support alive.
