SEARINGTOWN, NY — A Florida home health aide has been accused of assaulting the elderly man with a cognitive disorder that she took care of in Searingtown back in December, Nassau police said.

Radicka Barker was hired by the son of a 68-year-old to take care of him on a live-in basis, but it was discovered that she would often lose her patience and strike him, causing bruising and substantial pain, according to police. Barker would take the man's cane away, which he physically needed, and on multiple occasions, she forced him out of his vehicle and he would have to take a car service home, police said.

Barker, 59, of Orlando, was arrested without incident, and was found to be in possession of blank check belonging to the man, according to police.
