Laura Mogul Named Executive Director at Landmark on Main Street
The Port Washington resident has a long history of community service, and is a veteran in marketing, event management and client service.

Landmark on Main Street named Laura Mogul of Port Washington as the organization’s new executive director. Mogul began her new role on Tuesday.
As executive director, Mogul is responsible for the management and operations of all aspects of the Landmark Community Center. That includes the Jeanne Rimsky Theater and Doctors’ Gym, as well as the relationships with the Port Washington Children’s Center, Parent Resource Center and Teen Center (PiT), which lease space in the building.
Mogul will also be instrumental in expanding community outreach and encouraging greater community use of Landmark facilities.

She comes to this position as a seasoned veteran in marketing, event management and client service at Revlon, J Walter Thompson and ABC Television. She has a long history of community service and volunteerism with high visibility in many local organizations. Among her community leadership roles, Mogul served as president of the Port Washington Board of Education, the Port Summer Show and the Port Washington Education Foundation, an organization she helped found.
Asked about why she took the job, Mogul said, “Who wouldn’t take this job? Landmark is one of those great organizations that make Port special. The opportunity to have an impact on something so embedded in the fabric of our community – that doesn’t come along very often.”

Mogul noted that she is pleased “to be working in a position that allows me to combine my deep commitment to our community with my love of performing arts and creative expression.”
She pointed out that her community involvement is coming full-circle. For example, one of her first volunteer positions included serving in the school district’s cultural arts committee, where she’d seen the Paper Bag Players. The children’s theater group performed at Landmark earlier this month. Mogul said she caught the show, about a week before taking the helm at the Landmark, happy to see the troupe popular with families at the theater.
“Landmark is already an important institution in Port Washington, and the Jeanne Rimsky Theater is known and respected well beyond our borders,” Mogul noted. “I’m looking forward to building on our strengths to extend the reach and depth of our offerings to the people we serve – and to those we’ve yet to serve.”
Upcoming shows at the Landmark include Broadway’s Kelli O’Hara; comedians Robert Klein, and later Tom Arnold; and folk music legend Suzanne Vega.
Mogul’s appointment comes at a time of the organization’s renewed commitment to its stated mission of enhancing the spirit and enriching the lives of the communities of Port Washington and surrounding regions.
“2015 is the 20th anniversary of Landmark on Main Street,” Landmark’s Co-President Adam Grundfast said. “In ‘Act One’ we established Landmark as a true beacon in our community. We’re excited to welcome someone with Laura’s talents and dedication as we begin ‘Act Two’ and build on our success to extend our efforts to all the people of Port Washington and the neighboring areas.”
Landmark on Main Street, Inc., claims to offer a “unique model of community development,” which includes a collaboration of civic-minded individuals, government, business and not-for-profit organizations all sharing the belief that a community’s commitment to a richer cultural, recreational, civic, educational and social life, along with the celebration of diversity, benefits the quality of life for all.
