Man Stole Parking Meters In Nassau County: Police

Yes, he physically stole the meters, police say.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — A Hempstead man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the thefts of several parking meters in Nassau County, police said.

Officers saw Marvin O'Morejon Flores, 35, who police said matched the description of the suspect who had been stealing parking meters near Roslyn Road and Jericho Turnpike. He gave false information to officers, police said.

Officers arrested O'Morejon Flores and charged him with nine counts of third-degree grand larceny, four counts of second-degree criminal mischief, two counts of petty larceny, one count of possession of burglar tools and one count of false impersonation. Third Squad detectives and Freeport police worked together to make the arrest, police said.

O'Morejon Flores had two open Nassau County warrants from Oct. 23, 2023, for criminal possession of a controlled substance and Nov. 30, 2023, for a violation of probation, investigation found, police said. He was arraigned Thursday at First District Court, at 99 Main St., Hempstead.

Flores had been sentenced to probation in connection with prior charges for first-degree robbery and menacing that stemmed from a Feb. 6 arrest, police said.
