Man's DWI Arrest Leads To An Officer Getting Punched In Face: Police
Deshawn Gatewood faces charges that include second-degree assault and resisting arrest, police said.
MINEOLA, NY — A Queens man struck a police officer during an arrest, authorities said.
Deshawn Gatewood, 28, hit the officer with a closed fist during the overnight hours on Sunday, police said.
Gatewood was being processed by Lynbrook officers at Nassau County Police Headquarters in Mineola for a DWI arrest in their jurisdiction, police said.

The injured officer was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Gatewood is charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest, driving while intoxicated, driving while ability impaired and multiple vehicle and traffic violations.

He was expected to be arraigned on Monday.
