Mineola Board Of Education Names New Principal
Amaris Melendez has been appointed to the position at the Hampton Street School.

MINEOLA, NY — Amaris Melendez has been appointed principal of the Hampton Street School. The Mineola Board of Education met on July 31, where they selected Melendez for the position.
She served as instructional leader for the district since last year.
Melendez's leadership philosophy is centered on collaboration, equity and a commitment to instructional excellence, strategic visioning and community-building.

“Early childhood education has been the heart of my work and expertise throughout
my career, and I am thrilled to bring that passion to Hampton Street School,” Melendez said. “These formative years are filled with wonder, curiosity and incredible growth, and I look forward to partnering with our dedicated staff and families to create a joyful, nurturing environment where every young learner can thrive.
Melendez holds a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Brooklyn College, a Master’s degree in childhood education from Long Island University and a Master’s degree in school leadership and supervision from College of Saint Rose.
