Mineola H.S. Educator Named Teacher Of Merit

MINEOLA, NY — A Mineola High School educator has been named award with the Teacher of Merit trophy.

Jessica Carlson, the school's science research teacher, was recognized by the Regeneron Science Talent Search, most nation's most prestigious science research competition.

The award is given to outstanding science teachers for their work with students who are participating in the Regeneron STS. One of Carlson's students, senior Fatimah Badoolah, was recently announced as a semifinalist in the Regeneron competition, one of only 300 students selected.

Carlson's dedication to her craft and passion for research is opening the world of science and STEM to her learners and resulting in national recognition, as well as boundless opportunities for creativity, innovation and exploration, the district said.
