Mineola High School Announces Valedictorian​ And Salutatorian

Mineola High School has named its class of 2022 valedictorian​ and salutatorian.

MINEOLA, NY — Mineola High School has named Alvin Tsai and Katherine Ahn as the valedictorian and salutatorian for the class of 2022.

Throughout his high school career, Tsai has earned multiple achievements both in and out of the classroom. One of his successes: founding the school's Coding Club, which offers students a chance to compete in coding competitions at the local and national levels, while connecting with professionals in the field.

Tsai is also the founder and president of the Computer Science Honor Society and a student-athlete.

His passion for swimming has led to a number of regional and national accolades. Most notably, Tsai was honored by USA Swimming for being a nationally ranked swimmer and is one of 28 swimmers in the eastern region to attend the prestigious Zone Select Camp, according to a press release.

Ahn is involved in many extracurricular activities at school, including the Coding Club, the Environmental Club, Mathletes, Robotics, and the Student Service Center. She is also the recording secretary and treasurer of the National Honor Society and vice president of the Computer Science Honor Society.

Outside of school, Ahn goes on mission trips to Honduras, where she teaches English at the Christian School of Urraco.
