A Mineola High School teacher has been named a quarterfinalist for the 2022 Music Educator Award.

MINEOLA, NY — A music teacher from Mineola High School has been named a quarterfinalist for the 2022 Music Educator Award, officials announced this week.
Marc Ratner is among 219 music teachers from 204 U.S. cities who were chosen as quarterfinalists. Presented by the Recording Academy and GRAMMY Museum, the award recognizes educators "who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to maintaining music education in schools," according to a press release.
The group will be narrowed down to 15 semifinalists in September. Ten finalists will receive a $1,000 honorarium, and their schools will receive matching grants. The winner will be flown to Los Angeles to attend the 64th annual GRAMMY Awards.
