Nassau Police Increase Holiday Patrols On Land, Water To Prevent Reckless Behavior

The crackdown is funded by the New York State STOP DWI program.

MINEOLA, NY — As many people begin the road trip for Labor Day weekend, Nassau County officials urge drivers not to get behind the wheel under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

Nassau police have enhanced patrols set up to catch erratic driving.

They will increase patrols throughout the holiday weekend to free the roads free from intoxicated or impaired drivers, the police department said.

It's part of the DWI Enforcement grant from the New York State STOP DWI program.

Additionally, the Nassau County Police Department Marine Bureau will also continue with its “Operation Safe Boating” program, which also increases patrols during the holiday weekend to detect impaired boat operators and monitor all waterways for reckless behavior.
