MOUNT VERNON, NY — While he was in the area to headline the Pleasantville Music Festival, Kevin Griffin of Better Than Ezra took a much less rowdy stop at the parklike campus of Wartburg.

The residential and healthcare provider for seniors hosted Griffin who was there to check out the groundbreaking work the facility is doing with music therapy.

Wartburg CEO, Dr. David J. Gentner, the Institute for Music and Neurologic Function (IMNF) Executive Director, Dr. Concetta M. Tomaino met with Griffin to show off the importance of music on Wartburg’s campus as well as giving the musician a chance to visit Wartburg’s new Memory Care Living Center.

While the legendary performer's visit had a practical purpose, Wartburg officials admitted to being just a little starstruck for more reasons than one.

"Kevin’s foundation work and fundraising is well documented as he has raised money for many causes including pediatric cancer and front-line health care workers," Gentner said. "I’ve been a fan of his music for years and we were thrilled he could find the time to visit with residents, Dr. Tomaino, and staff."

Griffin signed copies of his 2023 book "The Greatest Song," which explores how one fictional musician's struggle to unlock his creative inspiration can inform how the rest of us can find our muse to help boost our own careers with the help of a little music therapy of our own.
