Early Morning Shooting Leaves 1 Wounded In Westchester

The first Mount Vernon police officers to arrive at the scene found a gunshot victim with a wound to the right forearm.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — Gun violence today in a Westchester city sent a gunshot victim to the hospital.

The Mount Vernon Police Department says that on Tuesday, shortly before 3 a.m., officers responded to South 4th Ave. after receiving a report of shots fired.

The first officers to arrive at the scene found a victim with a gunshot wound to the right forearm. He was taken to Jacobi Medical Center for treatment.

MVPD detectives say they are investigating the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Anyone with additional information about Tuesday's incident is being asked to contact the MVPD Detective Division at 914-665-2510. Police say all calls will be kept confidential. In addition, tips can be submitted anonymously via "Text-A-Tip" by texting "MVPD" and the tip to 847411. Tips can also be anonymously sent through the "Mount Vernon PD" app, available in the Google Play and Apple store.
