Mount Vernon Woman Claims $1M From Mega Millions Drawing
The lucky ticket was purchased in January at a Larchmont pharmacy. The winner opted to collect a lump sum payment.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — A Westchester County resident is a millionaire now (before taxes), thanks to her luck and the New York Lottery.
The New York Lottery announced on Wednesday that Peggy Spear of Mount Vernon has claimed her $1,000,000 second prize for matching the first five numbers in the January 28 Mega Millions Drawing.
The ticket was sold at Larchmont Pharmacy, located at 2141 Palmer Ave. in Larchmont.

Spear chose to receive her $1,000,000 prize as a single lump sum total of $651,000 after required withholdings.

New York's Mega Millions game generated $333,932,996 in sales during the 2020-2021 fiscal year, according to the New York Lottery. Westchester County school districts received $112,661,460 in lottery aid to education funds during that same period of time.
