New Study Of Reviews Says Empire City Is 2nd 'Luckiest' Casino In NY

YONKERS, NY — According to a new study released by Casinos.com, you can find just one luckier casino in New York than the Empire City Casino in Yonkers, but not without traveling upstate for a few hours.

There are plenty of gaming destinations in New York, with 18 licensed casinos to choose from and the fourth highest gross gaming revenue for casinos out of all US states at an estimated $4.2 billion.

Casinos.com set out to find the luckiest place in New York to place your bets. To do that, the site surveyed 15 of the most popular casinos in the state to find out which is the luckiest casino, and which is the unluckiest.

The results were decidedly unscientific, but then again, when has good luck been a scientific endeavor?

The Saratoga Casino Hotel emerged as the luckiest casino in New York, according to visitor reviews. With a luck percentage of 25.74 percent, the casino can now lay claim to being the luckiest casino in the entire state. Saratoga had by far the most instances of the word "lucky."

In a close second, with a 25.71 percent rating, was the Empire City Casino. The MGM Resorts brand located in Yonkers was just 0.03 percent off the top spot, according to the study's authors. Luck-related keywords such as "winning," "won," and "bonus" were plentiful among Empire's 424 reviews.

The Resorts World Catskills Casino had the dubious distinction of being named the unluckiest New York casino with a rating of 15.49 percent in terms of luck-related keywords. They were closely followed by their namesake Resorts World Casino New York City at 16.7 percent and Tiogo Downs Casino Resort at 16.89 percent.

Casinos.com utilized Trip Advisor reviews to do an in-depth analysis of phrases associated with luck to determine the luckiest and unluckiest casinos in the state of New York. The site calculated the percentage of luck-rated mentions in the total Tripadvisor reviews. Keywords tracked included: "Lucky," "Luck," "Winning," "Big Win," "Winner," "Bonus," "Profit," Success," "Jackpot," "Hand Pay" and "Bonus."
