MOUNT VERNON, NY — UniverSoul Circus plays Mount Vernon for the first time ever May 16 - 29. After a rousing reception in Brooklyn, Queens and Newark, UniverSoul Circus is gearing up to rock Mount Vernon with a total of 26 new shows, at its final stop in the New York metropolitan area at Hutchinson Field.

UniverSoul is a highly interactive combination of circus arts, theater, and music that spans genres including Pop, Classic R&B, Latin, Hip Hop, Jazz and Gospel. It embraces and celebrates the unique and familiar aspects of pop culture globally by bringing them center stage with a cast of international performers.

UniverSoul Circus is rated as one of the top two circuses along with Cirque du Soleil. UniverSoul’s fresh approach to family-friendly live entertainment has garnered it a spot as one of Ticketmaster’s top ten most requested family events. The circus was founded 24 years ago in Atlanta by concert and theatre promoter, Cedric Walker.

Now in its 24th season, UniverSoul Circus returns stronger than ever, boasting some of the most phenomenal acts ever to grace center ring. Returning by popular demand – viral internet sensations – Fresh the Clowns, from Detroit. Come find out why Fresh the Clowns and their energetic and infectious dance moves have won over audiences and become a YouTube sensation with their popular dance, “JuJu On That Beat,” garnering 40+million views.

Also appearing at UniverSoul, the Xtreme Bikes from Chicago and upstate New York will get your adrenaline pumping through the roof with crazy Freestyle Motocross stunts. And returning after a few years away from the big top are the Bone Breaking Contortionists from Guinea.

Families will witness an amazing array of international human and animal talent including Roller Skaters (Home country: Ethiopia), Elephants (USA), Teeter Board & Hand Vaulting (Gabon, Guinea, Ethiopia), Mixed Animal Act (Mexico) featuring Zebras and Camels, Aerial Silks (China), Horses (Gabon, Guinea, Russia), and perennial favorites Caribbean Dancers (Trinidad and Tobago).

Leading the charge this year is Ringmaster Lucky Malatsi of South Africa, a multitalented entertainer who brings his unbridled energy to center ring. Lucky, 27, has been with UniverSoul Circus in a wide range of capacities during his 15 years with the company – from Contortionist and Hip Hop dancer to Trapeze Artist. Lucky has done it all and travels with his wife and two young kids where they make their home on the circus’ backlot. Joining Lucky will be the amazing and beloved pint-sized Ringmaster’s Sidekick extraordinaire, Zeke! Zeke has held his esteemed position with the circus since the very first show in 1994.
