Here are the top six stories today in New York City:

  1. Four men were charged in connection to actor and East Flatbush native Michael K. Williams' death, allegedly selling him fentanyl–laced heroin in September 2021. After knowing the heroin was laced, they allegedly continued selling it on the street. (amNY)
  2. A memorial was held in a Midtown church for Wilbert Mora, the 27-year-old police officer who died last month in a Harlem shooting. In addition to working for the NYPD, Mora had also been a five-time organ donor. (New York City Patch)
  3. Mayor Eric Adams defended the decision to terminate roughly 4,000 city workers that remain unvaccinated, despite a COVID vaccine mandate that went into effect in November. These workers have been for the most part off the job without health benefits for the past several months. (New York City Patch)
  4. CNN chief Jeff Zucker resigned Wednesday, after an investigation into former Governor Andrew Cuomo revealed that he had an undisclosed affair with a close co-worker, who happened to be Cuomo's former communications chief. (New York City Patch)
  5. An off-duty cop, only 22 years old, was shot in an attempted robbery in The Rockaways, Queens, and is expected to survive. (New York City Patch)
  6. Good news: Staten Island's Chuck the Groundhog didn't see his shadow Wednesday morning which, according to Groundhog Day lore, means an early spring is coming to NYC. (New York City Patch)
