Animal Care and Control is Celebrating Black Cat Appreciation Day

The ASPCA is also waiving its fees for black cat adoptions.

Wednesday is Black Cat Appreciation Day, because who is in more need of a dedicated holiday than a furry creature with a bad reputation due to superstition? The ASPCA is celebrating the national holiday by waiving fees for adult black cat adoptions, and New York City Animal Care and Control also encouraged black cat owners to post pictures of their beloved pets.

The ASPCA Adoption Center's promotion goes through Sunday, Aug. 21. Adoption fees are waived for adult black cats and there is a discounted price of $50 for black kitten adoptions. The center is located at 424 E. 92nd St. between 1st and York avenues.
