- At least 10 people – including one firefighter – were hurt in a two-alarm fire in an apartment building in The Bronx on Saturday morning. Similar to the devastating fire that took 17 lives last month, this fire spread between apartments due to a door left open. (CBS 2 News)
- A $27 million fund designed by Governor Kathy Hochul to benefit New Yorkers impacted by hurricane Ida has so far distributed less than $1 million – and community partners say it is unlikely all the relief money will be doled out. Hochul may include the leftover in her state budget proposal, but it's unclear what it's earmarked for. (The City)
- An Upper Manhattan community held a march to end gun violence on Sunday morning, joined by State Senator Robert Jackson and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. (Spectrum News NY1)
- Mayor Eric Adams decided to move ahead with a controversial plan to change the medical insurance of retired city workers. Retirees contend that the plan could limit their access to certain medical procedures, and in certain cases requires pre-authorization to receive treatment. The mayor said he hears their concerns and promised to work with the plan's opponents. (New York Daily News)
- Attorney General Leticia James ruled that NYPD officers did not break any laws in the tasing death of George Zapantis, a bipolar man from Queens, in June of 2020. Zapantis was killed after police arrived at his house over reports of a man with a gun. (Gothamist)
