This Borough Has The Worst Drivers In NYC: New Study Finds

The average cost of car insurance among all New York City boroughs is $375 a month, or $4,500 a year, almost double the state average.

NEW YORK CITY — Drivers from one borough have been ranked the worst in New York City, according to a new study.

In a study from LendingTree about car insurance in New York, they found Manhattan had the worst driving record with 7.8 incidents per 1,000 drivers.

To determine that Manhattan had the worst drivers, LendingTree compared the number of driving incidents per 1,000 drivers inquiring about auto insurance by the car they drove.

The Bronx has the best driving record, according to the study. The borough had four incidents per 1,000 drivers

Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens rounded out the list.

For car insurance rates, Brooklyn has the most expensive rates. Drivers can expect to encounter annual average insurance rates at $5,748, LendingTree said. Monthly rates come out to about $479 a month for car insurance.

The Queens neighborhood of St. Albans has the next-highest rate at $451 a month.

Manhattan has the cheapest car insurance with an annual average rate of $3,628.
