Thursday's heat and humidity alone had been tough to bear through the morning and early afternoon.
"Heat index values should reach the mid and upper 90s on Thursday, and may also reach the mid 90s on Friday," the NWS warned Wednesday.
And by Thursday afternoon, a heat advisory had indeed been issued for Friday between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.
"Hot conditions will increase the risk for heat-related health issues," the NWS said, "especially for the elderly, those with chronic health problems such as lung and heart disease, those working outdoors and other heat-sensitive groups of people."
If you can get through all the weirdness Thursday and Friday, though, the weekend forecast is looking pretty spectacular: "mostly sunny" and highs in the mid 80s both Saturday and Sunday.
