Cuomo has already raised $1.5 million and secured multiple endorsements from a number of elected officials, labor unions and political organizations.

The poll also found that 80 percent of Democratic voters are unwilling to support Mayor Adams, no matter what he says or does.

Just 10 percent of voters surveyed said they would be open to a prospective independent run from Mayor Adams'.

The poll's findings are the latest blow to the mayor as he prepares for a re-election campaign.

A March 6 Quinnipiac University poll showed a record-low 20 percent of New York City voters approve of the way Adams is handling his job as mayor, Patch previously reported.

67 percent of voters disapprove of Adams, and 13 percent did not offer an opinion.

The Quinnipiac poll results marks the lowest job approval rating of any New York City mayor in the nearly 30 years since Quinnipiac University began polling New York City registered voters.
