  1. New York City is targeting loud cars in a Department of Environmental Protection pilot program this spring. The program will issue fines of up to over $2,000 to repeat offenders whose cars make loud noises for a long period of time. Watch out–there's one sound meter at an undisclosed location somewhere in the city. (New York City Patch)
  2. Mayor Adams is under fire from the City Council's LGBTQ+ Caucus, which condemns his appointment of two individuals they say have a history of homophobia to top positions in his administration. The two in question are former City Council member Fernando Cabrera and Brooklyn pastor Erick Salgado, both of whom have opposed same-sex marriage in the past. (New York City Patch)
  3. Two family-run businesses in the Bed-Stuy neighborhood of Brooklyn are facing over $50,000 in damages from a deadly fire earlier this month that took at least two lives. The businesses – a corner store and chicken restaurant –have been cornerstones of the neighborhood's Muslim community for many years, according to their GoFundMe. (New York City Patch)
  4. A man in Washington Heights, Manhattan, was robbed of over $150,000 in jewelry at around midnight on Sunday. No arrests have been made so far. (New York City Patch)
  5. The owner of a community bookstore in Brooklyn is retiring, handing the business over to his associate. The longtime co-owner, Ezra Goldstein, had 'rescued' the store in 2009, building it into a true community treasure, with an events space, and a backyard for readers. (New York City Patch)
