NEW YORK CITY — An armed 55-year-old man was shot and killed during a shootout with NYPD officers at a Home Depot parking lot in Staten Island Thursday morning.
Police responded to a 911 call about an individual with a gun at a Home Depot parking lot on Veterans Road West in Tottenville around 5:20 a.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, multiple gunshots were fired from the suspect, who was in a Jeep vehicle.

NYPD officers verbally engaged with the man and repeatedly instructed the suspect to drop his weapon, officials said at a press conference.
When the man didn't comply, five uniformed NYPD officers opened fire.
