  1. Homeless advocates take issue with Mayor Eric Adams' plan to remove 150 homeless encampments from the city's streets within the next two years. They contend that the solution to street homelessness is opening more "Safe Haven and stabilization rooms." The mayor's previous plan to crack down on homelessness in the subways led to over 700 arrests. (New York City Patch)
  2. Over 100 NYPD officers are guilty of misconduct during Black Lives Matter protests after the murder of George Floyd in 2020, according to New York City's civilian complaint review board. The board states that less than a quarter of those officers have faced any disciplinary action. (New York City Patch)
  3. While all of New York City's pension system boards have voted to divest their funds from Russia, in a show of opposition to the war in Ukraine, about $300 million is still stuck in Moscow, due to a temporary restraint on foreigners from selling shares on the Russian city's stock market. 4. A shooting in Bayside, Queens, earlier this month was attributed to a house in the neighborhood that community members complained had been occupied by 'squatter' Airbnb temporary renters that held loud and dangerous parties. The company responded by removing the listing. (New York City Patch)
  5. A large chunk of an Upper East Side block along Second Avenue is going to be demolished, with a century-old tenement building making way for new development most likely, although no plans have been filed.
