Nearly 700 Fewer NYers Shot So Far This Year Than 2021: New Crime Data

New York City is on pace for the fourth-lowest number of shooting victims for a year in recent history, police officials said.

NEW YORK CITY — Nearly 700 fewer people were shot in New York City this year than in 2021, when fear of violent crime swept the city, newly released crime statistics show.

Shootings dropped nearly 19 percent compared to November 2022, and 25 percent year-to-date from last year's numbers, the data shows.
