Here are the top five stories today in New York City:

  1. A shooting at a high-end sneaker store in a Brooklyn Mall left two teenagers wounded, and three arrested, according to police. (New York City Patch)
  2. The city's new congressional maps give Democrats an advantage in the upcoming midterm elections. They threaten to take away lone GOP member Nicole Malliotakis's Staten Island and Brooklyn seat, by adding the mostly progressive neighborhoods of Park Slope and Sunset Park. (The City)
  3. The funeral for police officer Wilbert Mora, who was killed two weeks ago in a Harlem shooting, is set for today in Midtown. (New York City Patch)
  4. Today marks Groundhog Day. Staten Island's very own Chuck is expected to predict how long winter will last, based on whether or not he sees his own shadow. The day has been infamous ever since a stand-in groundhog died weeks after then-mayor Bill de Blasio dropped him. (New York City Patch)
  5. An expensive Midtown seafood restaurant is facing eviction from its landlord, who says it has neglected to pay rent, held topless lap-dance parties, and even accused the owners of drug trafficking in a court filing. (New York City Patch)
