  1. New Yorkers owe an estimated $1.4 billion in unpaid utility bills–and that's not just because of the rate hikes last month. The state, which was the only place in the nation to pass a utility shut-off moratorium in 2020, is now being urged to pay off customers' debt using federal funds. (Associated Press)
  2. An off-duty cop's gun was stolen by four men who sent him and a friend to the hospital at 4:30 a.m. on Friday, according to police. No arrests had been made at this time of reporting. (New York City Patch)
  3. A Russian billionaire, Alexey Kuzmichev, the owner of the largest private bank in Russia, is reportedly attempting to sell his Upper East side mansion for $41 million–which is a discount compared to the $42 million he paid for it in 2016. Kuzmichev's bank has been hit by sanctions. (New York City Patch)
  4. A new poll by Emerson College and The Hill finds disgraced former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo only a few points behind Kathy Hochul in a potential face-off amongst Democratic voters–if he were to run again. In recent weeks Cuomo's campaign has spent millions on ads in an attempt to improve his public image. (New York Post)
  5. In a letter, a group of 15 State Senators urged Governor Kathy Hochul to put a pause on a redevelopment plan for a portion of south-west midtown nearby Penn Station, which is meant to help pay for improvements to the train station's infrastructure. The redevelopment would involve building 10 new skyscrapers, and lawmakers say that details to how exactly it would be funded have been vague. (Gothamist)
