NYC Airports Ranked Among The Worst For Delayed Flights: New Study

The study listed the airports around the country that had the most and least flight disruptions last month.

NEW YORK CITY — While the city's two main airports have made significant improvements in its infrastructure in recent years, they still lag behind when it comes to flight disruptions, according to a new study.

A new study by AirHelp, an air passenger rights company, collected data on airports around the country that had the most and least flight disruptions last month.

JFK made the top 5, while LaGuardia ranked slightly better. Nearby, Newark Liberty International Airport also made the list, according to a TimeOut New York report.

In February, 26.9 percent of flights had some type of disruption, according to the study. LaGuardia Airport had 26.5 percent of flights disrupted.

Dispute those figures, JFK faired better than three other airports on the list.

Ronald Reagan National Airport in Virginia ranked as the worst airports in the U.S. with over 40 percent of its flights disrupted in February.

Boston Logan International Airport with 31.9 percent and Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport with 27.9 percent of flights disrupted rounded out the top 3.

  5. Newark Liberty International Airport – 26.7 percent of flights disrupted
  6. New York LaGuardia Airport – 26.5 percent of flights disrupted
  7. Denver International Airport – 26.3 percent of flights disrupted
  8. O’Hare International Airport – 25.6 percent of flights disrupted
  9. Charlotte Douglas International Airport – 25.5 percent of flights disrupted
  10. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport – 23.9 percent of flights disrupted
