  1. Police said that a shooter connected to two Lower Manhattan incidents on Saturday morning is deliberately targeting homeless individuals sleeping on the street. At a press conference Mayor Adams called footage of the shootings "chilling" and " a cold-blooded act of murder. Two people were shot while sleeping on the streets, not committing a crime." (Gothamist)
  2. Two employees of the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) were stabbed on Saturday, by a man angry at being denied entry to the institution due to a previous record of misconduct. The incident led to the museum's evacuation, and the man, identified as Gary Cabana, was at large as of Sunday morning. (The Guardian)
  3. A politically well-connected advisor to Mayor Eric Adams resigned on Friday over questions of whether his appointment to a high-up role was a conflict of interest given that he's also a District Leader. Ed Hermelyn is also the husband of Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn, an Assemblywoman and Brooklyn Democratic Party boss, as well as fervent supporter of Adams. (The City)
  4. New York City's pandemic jobs recovery is going better than previously thought, according to a new analysis of December 2021's unemployment rate–now believed to be 7.4%, instead of 8.8% as previously reported. That's good news for Mayor Adams as he reveals his economic "blueprint" plan. (The City)
  5. The Old Farmers' Almanac predicts New York City will see a warmer than average spring and summer this year, like much of the country. The almanac isn't necessarily well-regarded amongst meteorologists, but it's still "a widely held literal seasonal tradition." (New York City Patch)
