NYC Restaurants: New Michelin Stars + Sandwich Shop Surfeit Edition
Election Day didn't stop New York City's never-ending buffet of food news.
NEW YORK CITY — A freshly cooked plate of new Michelin stars got served up to a lucky batch of New York City restaurants this week.
But the Michelin honors weren't the only things cooking in the city's restaurant scene.
After a brief hiatus, Patch's foodie-filled newsroom is bringing back our weekly food news roundup.

Twelve New York City restaurants received new Stars this week.
They join the 400-odd eateries in the city that have received the culinary honor.
The big winners were two Japanese eateries — odo in Flatiron and Sushi Noz on the Upper East Side — that were upgraded to Two Stars from One.
But other spots in Brooklyn, Chelsea, the West Village and the Upper West Side and more snagged new Stars, which is no easy feat.

A surfeit of sandwich shops formed the other big food news covered by Patch this past week.
The hit, hip sandwich joint Regina's Grocery opened its newest spot.
The Upper East Side location "feels like a super old-school neighborhood," said owner Roman Grandinetti. The area's vibe fits his sandwich shop's throwback vibe, which is cemented by its stained-glass pendant lamps, family pictures and walls filled with ephemera emphasizing his family roots in Italy.
"All that stuff I took from my favorite places growing up," Grandinetti said, like his grandfather's social club which he remembers as covered in wood-paneled walls.
The other sandwich news is a lot less personal, but arguably just as beloved.
Chick-fil-A opened a spot in Marble Hill this past week.
The new location is run by local owner Senay Mekonen, who cut his teeth in the hospitality business working at his family deli in Stamford, Connecticut. The spot will participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program to donate surplus food to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need.
