NYC School Closings: How To Find Out If Tuesday Is A Snow Day

There's up to an inch of snow and sleet expected Monday night.

NEW YORK CITY — There are no plans for schools to be affected by the latest snow that's forecast to hit the city Monday before turning to heavy rain Tuesday.

Officials usually consult the Mayor's Office of Emergency Management, the National Weather Service, the City Sanitation Department and the City Transit Authority to decide if the city's students should get a snow day.

Light east wind becoming northeast 5 to 10 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total nighttime snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Tuesday
Rain. High near 37. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. Northeast wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Tuesday Night
A 20 percent chance of rain before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 30. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Northwest wind 11 to 15 mph.
