NYC Subway Delays: 8 Lines Roiled In Frigid Weather

Delays and service changes hit the B, E, F, G, N, Q, J and 6 lines Thursday morning.

NEW YORK — Delays and service changes slammed eight subway lines amid freezing weather on Thursday morning. The issues messed up commutes on B, E, F, G, N, Q, J and 6 trains, according to the MTA.

Southbound E and F trains were running with delays because of a signal issue at the Queens Plaza tower, while F and G trains were delayed amid a signal problem at Fourth Avenue-Ninth Street, the MTA said. The latter issue had been corrected as of 10:19 a.m., according to the agency.

A train's brakes getting activated at Newkirk Plaza caused southbound B trains to run local from Prospect Park to Kings Highway, according to the MTA. The agency warned of delays in B and Q service.

A signal problem at Queensboro Plaza caused delays to northbound N trains, and yet another signal problem at East Broadway forced northbound F trains to run at slower speeds between that stop and Delancey Street, the MTA said.

And J trains headed to Broad Street were running at slower speeds from 111th Street to 121st Street because of a signal problem at 121st Street, the MTA said.
