NYC Veterans Day Parade 2023: Watch Live, What To Know

A procession of 20,000 marchers Saturday will take over Fifth Avenue for the nation's largest Veterans Day parade.

NEW YORK CITY — Veterans yet again will receive a grand honor in New York City.

The 2023 New York City Veterans Day Parade is Saturday.

A 20,000-strong contingent of marchers from all military service branches will proceed down Fifth Avenue starting at 9:30 a.m., organizers said.

Retired U.S. Army Lieutenant General Mike Linnington, an Iraq War veteran, will serve as Grand Marshal.

"The 20th anniversaries of the War in Iraq and the Wounded Warrior Project call attention to the ongoing needs of veterans and their families who face a lifetime of visible and invisible wounds," he said in a statement.

The parade will commemorate the following anniversaries, according to the parade's site:

  • 70th Anniversary of the end of the Korean War
  • 50th Anniversary of the withdrawal of combat units from Vietnam
  • 40th Anniversary of the Beirut Barracks Bombing in Lebanon and the Grenada Invasion
  • 30th Anniversary of the Battle of Mogadishu (Somalia)

New Yorkers can expect street closures in the blocks around the parade route, which will run along Fifth Avenue from 26th Street to 47th Street, according to the city's Department of Transportation.

People can watch and cheer along the route, or watch a live television broadcast on WABC or stream online at nycvetsday.org from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
